As I noted at the time: “Funny thing this painting lark; whenever I think I’m starting to understand some of the rules, it tends to sneak up and bite me somewhere proverbial 😂”. To which particular rules was I referring? I have no idea, I’ve been asleep since then, but I do know that at this stage I realised I wasn’t actually in control of these landscapes.
Yes, I planned the arches and blocks, and the road avoiding the tower. But the landscape? The emerging city, the valley, the hills? Nope! I thought it was one big flat plain out there. This one surprised me – but ain’t it beautiful? Don’t you long to follow that road?
